"Wompedy"
is pronounced "wom-pedd-ee"
and was derived from the term "caddy-wompus."
Wompedy means basically the same thing as
caddy wompus: kind of eschewed, strange, or weird.
The Wompedy Club
was founded in 1996 by Alan
Hatchett and Daniel
S Dunnam.
At it's conception, it was really just so
that we could get in the yearbook as a club with a picture
of just the two of us. That worked.
(Our yearbook picture from back then.)
Even with such a self-serving inception,
since then the club has come to have a more significant mission.
At present, The Wompedy Club is a vehicle
to promote activism and keep weirdness in the lives of Americans
(and eventually people all over the world).
Since the formation of The Wompedy Club
of two, many many members have joined. Up until now, joining
required that a person help out with a Wompedy Club project.
But now it's even easier. You can simply Become a Member online!
It's really that easy to become a member. Really. No, I'm
serious. Go check it out for yourself if you don't believe
me.
